Jaeger Pedestal Aneroid Barometer Added to the Collection
A rare Jaeger pedestal barometer joins the collection, accompanied by a newly expanded history of Jaeger-LeCoultre.
A Jaeger Pedestal Aneroid Barometer, manufactured in France approximately between 1955 and 1965, has been added to the collection. Produced under the Jaeger name by Jaeger-LeCoultre, the instrument combines a large multi-scale aneroid barometer with a bimetallic thermometer and an unusually practical mechanical system for correcting the readings according to the altitude of the place of use.
Alongside the new catalogue entry, the website now also includes a detailed history of Jaeger-LeCoultre, tracing the company from Antoine LeCoultre’s early workshop in Le Sentier and the development of LeCoultre & Cie, through Edmond Jaeger and the Franco-Swiss partnership that led to the Jaeger-LeCoultre name in 1937, to the manufacture’s celebrated watches, Atmos clocks, and precision instruments. Particular attention is also given to Jaeger’s production of barometers and other meteorological instruments during the 20th century.
