This Combined Hygrometer–Thermometer “KAMER KLIMAAT”, produced around 1970 by the renowned German company Fischer, which continues to manufacture high-quality analog meteorological instruments today, is housed in a stamped and painted metal case, fronted by a mineral glass secured with a brass bezel.
The painted aluminum dial features two scales forming a “double-sector” layout: on the left — a thermometric scale in degrees Celsius, and on the right — a relative humidity scale in percent. Both scales are read from a common central axis, each occupying its own half of the dial.
The thermometer scale (left semicircle) ranges from 10 to 35 °C, graduated at 1 °C intervals, with prominent raised golden circular markers at 15/20/25/30/35 °C for quick reading of round values. The descriptive zones are marked KOUD (cold) at the bottom, NORMAAL (normal) in the center, and WARM (warm) at the top.
The hygrometer scale (right semicircle) runs from 10 to 100 % RH, also in 1 % increments, with the same raised circular markers at 20/30/40/50/60/70/80/90/100 %. Text zones indicate DROOG (dry) at the bottom, NORMAAL in the center, and VOCHTIG (humid) at the top.
Two bright red indicator hands mark their respective scales, simultaneously displaying both the numerical reading and its descriptive category.
Measuring systems: Hygrometer: hair type, using a degreased natural hair bundle as the sensitive element, linked to a lever and pointer mechanism. The case includes an adjustment screw for calibration. Thermometer: bimetallic spiral, driving a separate inner pointer through its own linkage system.
