VD-20 Altimeter Added to the Collection
A Soviet VD-20 two-pointer aircraft barometric altimeter, dating from around 1955, has been added to the collection.
The collection has been expanded with a Soviet VD-20 aircraft barometric altimeter, manufactured around 1955. Designed to measure relative flight altitude up to 20 km, the instrument uses a two-pointer mechanical system driven by an aneroid capsule assembly.
VD-20 altimeters were serially produced by Ulyanovsk Plant No. 280, later known as the Ulyanovsk Instrument-Making Plant. This example retains its original black dial with photoluminescent markings, rotating barometric scale, dual altitude indexes, and the characteristic coded aviation-industry emblem on the rear of the case.
