sifon
This modern dual-liquid barometer from the late 20th century, produced by the Dutch company H.N. Rose, is a classic contrabarometer, where a U-shaped tube contains two liquids—mercury and dyed oil.
The barometer’s body consists of a thin oak board, painted in a deep black color. The barometric scale in hectopascals is directly printed onto the barometer’s surface, along with standard weather indications, which are written entirely in lowercase letters in Dutch. A small letter “A” inside a circle, located in the lower right corner of the barometer, is likely a reference to Andreas Rose, the last owner of the H.N. Rose brand.
The barometer features a minimalist design, drawing attention with its strict and elegant appearance. Unlike the traditional red-colored oil, this model uses a dark green pigment, harmonizing with the overall dark color scheme of the instrument.
