conventional movement tensioned on a C-spring
brass, glass, mother of pearl, wood
This early 20th-century Light Walnut Inlaid Barometer by the renowned German brand Stäcker & Olms is crafted from premium materials with exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
The barometer case is made of pine veneered with fine English walnut of a light pale brown color, featuring an even texture and a beautiful grain pattern. In addition to the premium wood, the case is adorned with marquetry: on the sides, inlays of satinwood form delicate floral motifs, while at the top and bottom they are complemented by mother-of-pearl inlays in the shape of two glistening dew drops.
At the center of the composition is the barometer, protected by flat mineral glass with a beveled edge, set into a brass bezel. The 11.5 cm open dial is made of cardboard and features a barometric scale in millimeters of mercury, accompanied by standard weather terms in French. Through the open dial, the conventional movement tensioned on a C-spring is clearly visible; the hexagonal brass head securing this powerful curved spring, mounted on brass supports, is elegantly engraved with the company’s logo.
