J.C. Vickery

J.C. Vickery was a British company established in 1890 by John Collard Vickery and his partner Arthur Thomas Hobbs. They acquired the business of William Griggs, located at 183 Regent Street in London, and expanded the range to include jewelry, dressing sets, as well as gold and silver items.

In 1891, the partnership with Hobbs was dissolved, and Vickery continued the business independently. By 1900, he expanded the premises to include 179, 181, and 183 Regent Street, with showrooms on New Burlington Place.

The company received several Royal Warrants from European monarchs, including the King and Queen of Great Britain (Edward VII and Alexandra), the kings of Portugal, Spain, and Sweden, the King and Queen of Denmark, the Queen of Norway, and the Prince and Princess of Schleswig-Holstein.

The product range included various items, such as silver pocket barometers, table instruments, and other high-quality goods. However, in 1930, the company faced financial difficulties and was acquired by James Walker Ltd. John Collard Vickery passed away the same year.
