F.M.W. is a brand or set of initials used by Dr. Friedrichs Gruppe. It is likely an abbreviation of either Friedrichs Messinstrumente Wertheim or Friedrichs Meteorologische Werkstätte. Dr. Friedrichs Gruppe, now known as Friedrichs Gruppe Messinstrumente GmbH, traces its roots back to 1956, when the company Therama was founded in Wertheim, Germany. Therama became a pioneer in the production of machine-blown thermometric capillaries, using proprietary machinery developed in-house. Later, other companies were established and brought together under the management of Dr. Friedrichs Gruppe Produktions- und Vertriebs-GmbH.
