late 20th century
EXCELLENT
This Desk Barometer With Glass Dome, from the late 20th century by German manufacturer Barigo, is a true embodiment of engineering brilliance and aesthetic perfection. Its luxurious mahogany base serves as the ideal platform for the towering brass structure, giving the barometer an imposing yet refined appearance. At the top of the brass tower are two aneroid capsules, which play a key role in measuring atmospheric pressure.
The long pointer, gracefully curved, appears to bow in reverence to the grandeur of the entire construction, adding a dynamic and original touch to the design. A large portion of the brass tower is occupied by the barometric scale, displayed in millimeters of mercury and millibars, highlighting the instrument’s precision and functionality.
The final touch is the transparent plastic dome that encases and protects the entire structure. This dome not only serves a protective function, shielding the mechanism from external elements, but also enhances the overall elegance of the design, adding a refined, aesthetically pleasing finish to the composition.
