Successor:

Naudet & Cie

The French company Pertuis, Naudet, Hulot & Bourgeois (PNHB) was founded in 1860. It quickly rose to prominence and became one of the largest global manufacturers of aneroid barometers.

The distinctive feature of PNHB's products was its signature logo — the abbreviation PNHB enclosed in an elegant circle, typically placed on the dial or the back of the instrument. The dial also featured the inscription Baromètre holostérique (holosteric barometer), emphasizing the integrity of the design and the absence of liquid components. The term holostérique originates from the Greek word holosteric, meaning "complete" or "integral," and was first used by PNHB. It became a sort of trademark for their barometers, much like "aneroid barometer" was for Vidie and "metal barometer" for Bourdon.

Although the original partnership of Pertuis, Naudet, Hulot & Bourgeois quickly dissolved, the company continued operating under the name Naudet & Cie, leading to the convenient (for Naudet) belief that the company's logo (PNHB) represented Paul Naudet Holostéric Baromètre rather than listing the partners' names.

Unlike many other notable Victorian brands, the Naudet company still exists and continues to produce barometers. In 2016, the company was even awarded the French government’s quality label Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, created to recognize outstanding companies with rare craftsmanship or industrial expertise. Despite leaving the hands of its original owners in 1928 and being acquired by a company named Dourde, they continue trading under the Naudet brand to this day. This attests to the strength of the reputation the company built in the 19th century.
